L.W. Miller was born and raised in a rural area of Pennsylvania's Appalachian Mountains. As a young boy, nature became a touchstone of his life and L.W. enjoyed all that the countryside had to offer, especially hunting and fishing. When he wasn't spending time outdoors, L.W. was developing a passion for motorsports - something that was only natural considering his father owned one of the most successful race teams in the Northeast fielding modified cars for the likes of Brett Bodine, Donald "Satch" Worley, Jimmy Spencer and Jerry Cook. Following in the footsteps of these drivers, Miller began racing for his father at several dirt tracks in the region. When he wasn't at the track, Miller could be found working full-time in his family's hardware store during the day and on his race car throughout the night. |

After short track success in the Northeast, Miller relocated to North Carolina where he raced both the ARCA series and the NASCAR Busch series. Frustrated that his cars were not performing at a level equal to his talent, Miller decided to take a hiatus from driving and accepted a job as car chief for Shoemaker Racing with driver Dick Trickle. After the team dissolved, Miller pursued other racing-related positions and utilized his commercial driver's license by driving for his family-owned trucking company. However, the desire to race never left him during his time away from the driver's seat and in 2001 he eagerly got back behind the wheel more determined that ever to succeed. |
It didn't take Miller long to prove his talent and he found himself in the winner's circle at the 2002 NASCAR Featherlite Modified race in Martinsville, Va. This year alone, he has already won over half of the races on the SMART modified tour and now holds a commanding lead in the point standings.
From his hard working attitude to his performance behind the wheel, it's clear that L.W. Miller is poised to become a champion race car driver. |
