Loftin Posts Strong Finish in Whelen Modified Tour

Loudon, NH: After rain washed out practice and qualifying on Thursday Brian Loftin Racing was wondering if they were going to be able to race in the Whelen Modified Tour New England 100, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on June 28. Luckily for Brian Loftin and the #23 QMF Solutions Chevrolet, they drew to qualify first, giving them one of three open starting spots in the 38 car field.

Loftin knew going into the 100 lap race he would have his work cut out for him, starting 36 th , on this 1.058 mile superspeedway.  From the time the green flag waved Loftin was on the move up the field.

During an early race restart, Loftin got caught up with another car causing damage to this front bumper. Luckily the damage was not serious but it did affect his ability to draft for the remainder of the race.

Loftin continued to drive hard and decided not to take new tires while the other drivers were pitting, moving as high as third in the field during the race. Unfortunately, he was unable to maintain this position, due to the damaged bumper's impact on drafting.  Loftin was the highest finishing driver from the Southern Tour, finishing 11 th .

“I love the challenge that the northern drivers present,” commented Loftin. “The talent up there is amazing.”

This was the first of two WMT races that Loftin plans on racing in during the 2008 season. The next race will be August 23 rd at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Mansfield, OH. Loftin will see the northern drivers for a third time at a combination race at Martinsville Speedway, in Martinsville, VA for the Made in America Whelen 300.

“I want to thank everyone in my crew, Mike, Bobby, John, Justin, Red, and Kenny,” said Loftin. “They had to put up with the long ride and put in a lot of hard work. I would not have been able to run as well without their help.”

Loftin's next race will be at Caraway Speedway on July 4 th . He brought home a win after his last race at this track.

Loftin is currently 3 rd in points in the Whelen Southern Modified Tour with one win and two top five finishes. He is sponsored by QMF Solutions and L & R Transmissions.
