SEUSS LEADS FINAL 63 LAPS TO TAKE WIN AT SOBO

What a difference a week makes for Andy Seuss. After mechanical problems ended his night just four laps into the season-opening race two weeks ago, Seuss was able to hold off George Brunnhoelzl, III to win the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified 150 Saturday night at South Boston Speedway.

Seuss (No. 47 Advance Auto Parts/Q Racing Oil Dodge) started 8th after the redraw and quickly moved into the top five by lap 40. Seuss passed Brunnhoelzl, III (No. 28 Oval Speed/Fibrwrap Ford) on lap 87 and was able to stay out front the rest of the way.

“I can't tell you how much this means to me to get this win tonight for the Advance Auto Parts team,” said Seuss. “This is going to make me ready for tomorrow at Thompson ( Speedway ).

Seuss will also compete in the Icebreaker at Thompson season opener for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Sunday afternoon.

The race started with J.R. Bertuccio and Buddy Emory on the front row, When the green waved Bertuccio and Emory would run away from the field the first 25 laps till lap 26 when Buddy Emory would take to the point and look like he would be the man to beat. Emory had put some distance on his fellow drivers as he drove his own pace.

Caution would soon kill all his lead and bunch the field back up. The pole sitter George Brunhoelzl III would line up to the outside on a double file restart and would take over the lead on lap 55. Brunnhoelzl would lead the next 31 lap before Suess would make his way thru the field to capture the lead on lap 87.

This win was the third career win for Seuss in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.

Burt Myers finished third with Tim Brown and Brian Loftin completing the top five.

The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will return to action next Friday night at Ace Speedway and also will race at Caraway Speedway on Saturday night.
