The S.M.A.R.T. Ladies Auxiliary has been in existence since December of 1996 and currently has over 20 active members. Meetings are held monthly, usually on the 2nd Monday of the month with the location determined at the previous meeting. Membership is open to anyone having a desire to experience Modified Racing, Southern Style.
The group is devoted to promoting good will between the community and the sport of modified auto racing. Activities include: offer assistance in time of need to any S.M.A.R.T. driver or crew member, organizing and raising funds for the annual awards banquet, providing refreshments for the monthly meetings (including 2 annual dinners), and assisting with fundraising projects for SMART.
In addition to supporting S.M.A.R.T., the Ladies Auxiliary has chosen to assist the local Battered Women's Shelter throughout the year.
The Ladies Auxiliary sponsors two awards for S.M.A.R.T. during the year:
Hard Luck Award:
Presented for each race to driver having worst luck as voted on by a 3 member panel.
Mechanic of the year:
A mechanic is honored at the annual awards banquet that has been nominated by car owners and drivers then selected by the S.M.A.R.T. officials.
